Customer advice regarding the Coronavirus in Italy

Thursday, 27 February 2020

In an attempt to halt any further spread of the Coronavirus in Italy, the Italian government has issued a quarantine on towns across Lombardy and Veneto. In light of this, we advise our customers not to attempt to travel to the quarantined towns until the Italian authorities have lifted the ban.

In compliance with the provisions of the DPM of 9 March, when collecting the vehicle it will be necessary to sign the self-certification form that will be provided by the rental station.

What to do if you have already booked?

We are taking a number of measures to support our customers as much as possible during this time. If you have already made a booking, but it is impacted by the restrictions due to the Coronavirus, this booking can be cancelled as outlined below:

  • Cancellation fees for any Pay Later customers impacted by Coronavirus-related travel bans, will be waived
  • Cancellation fees for any Pre-Pay rental customers impacted by Coronavirus-related travel bans, will be waived

If you have any further questions regarding a past or future booking, please contact us directly.

For any customers who have booked through a third-party broker, please contact that broker directly for further guidance should your travel be disrupted.

We encourage all our customers to keep updated on the latest developments at the Ministry of Health specialist Coronavirus website: www.salute.gov.it/nuovocoronavirus.

What if you have a booking or would like to make a booking in the quarantined areas?

We do not have rental stations in the towns quarantined at this time, and therefore we can confirm all our rental stations in Italy are currently open and fully operational for online or walk-in reservations.

Are you taking any additional precautions to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus?

We are closely monitoring the information shared by the World Health Organization concerning advice on how to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

To help protect our staff and customers, in Italy, we have issued masks to all our station staff, encouraged regular use of hand sanitizer and have added additional cleaning techniques of surfaces in our vehicles with alcohol-based wipes after rentals.
